Ladies and Gents, I Present Taylor Swift and Kanye

I'm sure everyone has heard the big news of the week coming from the VMA awards, but in the rare case you haven't--Kayne West got on the stage while Taylor Swift was accepting her award and stole the mic. He preceeded to explain that Beyonce deserved the award more.

This is hardly the first time Kayne West has made a scene at an award show, but this has blown up in his face far more. Kayne proved that he is no gentlemen, and I think the backlash is very deserving. However, instead of focusing on him I want to talk about Taylor Swift and Beyonce.
The news is always full of actors, singers and preformers of all kinds going off or having meltdowns; so with this rare and beautiful potrayal of what it means to be a lady right here in our faces it's time to take a look.

I think Jane Austen would have been proud of Beyonce's gentlelady display at the VMAs.

Beyonce shined by bringing Taylor up to finish her speech. That right there is class.

Beyonce made no offense, and she certainly did not know Kanye was going to do that, but she reached out to the obviously upset Taylor and turned what could have been a horrible experience into a beautiful and memorable one.
Taylor also needs to be commended. She handled the uncalled for offense with serenity. There were no emotional breakdowns--though I would not have faulted her a few tears because I'm not sure I could have been as classy in her stead. In interviews following the event Swift was thankful for the support shown her by Beyonce and others behind the curtain. Her words about Kanye were deliberate and careful, stating that she did not want to start anything with him.
Beyonce showed kindness and class, going the extra mile. Taylor Swift showed grace under fire. Ladies, there is so much we can learn from them.
Finally, I will add that Kanye has apologized three times, and though most of us wouldn't mind hearing a few more apologies, he said on the Jay Leno premier that he is going to take time off to think. I commend this desicion and simply want to add that it wouldn't hurt if he read some Jane Austen while he was gone, spesifically Sense and Senibility. However, if he sticks to this claim and actually does spend some time in soul reflection then there is a chance for him yet.

Until next time
Chris
